AluK is the first aluminium systems company in the UK to offer the specification market a commercial door package tested and certified to BRE's prestigious and much sought after LPS 1175; the industry's latest and most stringent security standard.
An aluminium door from AluK's commercial range, it the first door in any material to have undergone demanding intruder resistance tests at the Building Research Establishment (BRE). The door was subjected to rigorous and prolonged attacks using a variety of tools and the door proved resistant in every element. Having passed all the tests with flying colours, AluK now sets the standard by being the first aluminium systems company in the UK to offer fully accredited LPS 1175 - Grade 2 aluminium door.
LPS 1175 ; Grade 2 approved aluminium door was fitted with Adam Rite's new Sentinel 6 mortise mechanical deadlock, specifically designed for aluminium doors and offering high level security due to the combined strength of a bar bolt and anti-spread feature of the hook bolt. AluK is pleased to have worked so closely with Adam Rite, one of the UK's leading security solutions providers, as both companies share the same ambitions to set the benchmark for security doors and prove their products meet the very highest standards.
The Building Research Establishment's (BRE) LPS or Loss Prevention Standards cover fire protection and control, building products and security systems and are recognised by the Association of British Insurers and the Police. LPS 1175 describes tests for classifying the intruder resistance of a broad scope of products and systems, including doorsets, windows, security grilles and shutters, for commercial premises and higher risk properties. Each element of the AluK commercial doorset, from the lock stile and cylinder to the door leaf and jamb, has resisted all attacks at the BRE testing facility says Russell Yates, AluK Technical Director: "We're delighted with the impressive test results and that we are now able to offer the first and only accredited LPS 1175 : Grade 2 and Secured By Design door package to the market. The accreditation strongly reinforces AluK's position as the most innovative and demanding aluminium system available in the UK. "

Both BRE Global Limited and AluK has worked closely with the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) throughout the entire accreditation process and ACPO have recognised the achievements of AluK's door package by awarding it with a Secured By Design Licence. This is further endorsement that the door package has met and surpassed the very latest in security test standards.
