Sika corrosion management for restoration scheme

Sika has supplied a Total Corrosion Management solution – including over 60,000m2 of Sika Ferrogard 903+ corrosion inhibitor – during the £12.9 million regeneration of four housing blocks providing homes to almost 700 families.

Over the past four years, Southwark Council has invested £326 million into ensuring every one of its homes is warm, dry and safe (WDS) by 2016.

Working closely with clients Keepmoat and Southwark Council, specialist contractor Barwin and Sika carried out on-site trials using Sika Ferrogard 903+ to demonstrate its ability to penetrate the concrete, reach the steel and restore it to a state of passivity.

To provide a final layer of weather protection, SikaGard was also applied. For the soffits and remaining concrete surfaces except ringbeams, SikaGard® - 675W anti-carbonation coating was applied to seal against the ingress of water, chlorides and carbonation.
