Sika Sarnafil flexibility suits Parkway

The Sika Sarnafil single ply system has been specified for the balconies, roofs and terraces of a brand new residential development in Newbury, Reading. The flexibility of the system along with its ability to withstand cold temperatures meant it was ideal for the £100 million urban quarter development, which comprises of 180 apartments and penthouses across five floors and a seven-storey residential tower.

Working alongside main building contractors Costain, Prater were appointed to install the complete building envelope for the project. Kate Prater, Associate Director for Prater explains: “We needed to provide a modern waterproofing system with an appearance which was sympathetic to the historic surroundings. Staggered installations resulted in the original specified system being impractical during the winter months. We changed this to the Sika Sarnafil system to remove the need for hot works, enabling the project to run on schedule.”

Around 500sq m of Sika Sarnafil membrane G410-12ELF in Lead Grey and G410-15EL Light was installed across the balconies, roofs and terraces of all residential units.
