Sika Trocal for Edinburgh apartments

An established and well-positioned development of contemporary apartments just minutes away from Edinburgh city centre required a single ply roofing solution with a very specific design specification. A Sika Trocal type S single layer polymeric membrane in Slate Grey was chosen because it was competitive, fit for purpose and in particular because it is designed to suit flat or low pitched roofs.

The Strada roof solution has a number of interesting features that makes it bespoke; and working with the team at Sika Trocal has allowed Taylor Wimpey to achieve a roof solution that is on-budget and was delivered within the production schedule.

The roof installed was a ‘warm’ roof where the insulation is on top of the roof deck and the roof is a liveable area. The Kingspan insulation used was ThermaroofTR26M, 130mm thick and fixed with Trocal metal washers.

Commercial manager, Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, Steve Suttie said, “We needed an innovative approach that could provide a technical solution for a complex roof structure at The Strada in Edinburgh. The team at Sika Trocal has worked with Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s preferred contractor, Procladd Scotland Ltd before so were confident about the brief,” he said.
