Alu-Timber and their approved fabricator 3D Aluminium Systems worked on a new build academy in West Sussex. This new £28 million academy which replaces the existing college is the first of four for West Sussex Council. The state of the art learning facility which specialises in Performing Arts and Mathematics has allowed the previous college to expand its capacity from 1,100 to 1,400 students. Sponsored by the Woodard Trust, the Academy caters for all faiths including catering for extensive community use. The design of this new building is predominantly naturally ventilated and Balfour Beatty Engineering Services have since been awarded a Considerate Contractors Award for their part in this project.

Alu-Timber, from The Parkside Group Ltd., was specified due to the flexibility it offers. All profiles are kept in stock which means challenging site deadlines can always be met. The extensive range of profiles create options for large glazed framing areas which integrate seamlessly with Alu-Timber windows and doors. The complete Alu-Timber range includes casement, tilt & turn windows, open-in and open-out doors, framing and curtain walling.

Creating sustainable, energy efficient buildings is a cornerstone of design. The facade is now a functional element to the building and the materials used must be sustainable, renewable and have a real end of life use. Taking all current specification and building regulations into consideration, Alu-Timber combines sustainably grown FSC or PEFC timbers with 100% recyclable aluminium.

All Alu-Timber approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. 3D Aluminium Systems liaised closely with the specifiers to provide design advice and detailing which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines.
