Sotech Scores At Sheffield FC's New Hotel

Leading designer and manufacturer Sotech has put in another winning performance after creating a striking cladding package for use on the new hotel at Sheffield United FC’s Bramall Lane stadium.

The four-star Copthorne Hotel has been designed to pay homage to Sheffield’s steel heritage, incorporating bespoke ACM pressings and bullnoses that have been brushed and lacquered to replicate a traditional stainless steel finish. To add further interest to the scheme, Sotech’s Optima TFC cassette rain screen system featuring panels in an antique copper finish and Optima IPC zinc planks were specified.

Working alongside façade contractors Norking Aluminium, Sotech attended numerous meetings and initiated a design workshop at the Peterlee factory to consolidate the design brief and ensure a successful installation programme prior to the commencement of works. One of the greatest challenges overcome through such collaborative working practices was the creation of the 6m long ACM pressings, which were engineered to be supplied flat for assembly on site.

Conveniently located next to the Bramall Lane stadium, the 158 room Copthorne Hotel was constructed as a joint venture between Sheffield United FC and Millennium & Copthorne Hotels PLC.
