nora® rubber floorcoverings were specified for St Lukes Primary School as part of a scheme to raise design standards in all new school buildings. Following recent completion, St Lukes Primary School has been acknowledged for a number of high profile awards and environmental accreditations. Located in Wolverhampton, the school to 450 children was voted winner of the RIBA Sorrell Foundation Award; a highly accredited prize presented to leading architects for the best new primary or secondary school.
Due to the outstanding design of the facility, the project also received the Civic Trust Award, honoured for outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment with a positive impact on the local community. Students, staff and visitors now benefit from natural daylight, underfloor heating and cross ventilation, providing an eco-compatible environment. The school uses sustainably sourced materials with low energy consumption. In keeping with such high standards, St Lukes was rated environmentally excellent by BREEAM, the first primary school to be rated excellent in the UK.

In line with low emission requirements, nora® achieve the Blue Angel certification, awarded to products with particularly low levels of emissions and organic substances and formaldehyde. The certification is an example of the protection and promotion of environmental air quality and good health, vital for childrens learning environments. As well as the Blue Angel, nora® products also achieve the Greenguard certification which is also sensitive to indoor air quality and low-emitting products in school buildings and provides the strictest product emission criteria to date.
