A team of Stannah office managers and team leaders from branches right across the UK took on a sponsored walking challenge to raise funds for The Silver Line - a free helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people.
Event organiser Dianne Sillis manages the Norwich office of Stannah Lift Services, one of eleven UK locations. Dianne explains:
“2015 is the 40th anniversary of Stannah Stairlifts and to celebrate the Stannah Group made a generous donation of £40,000 to Esther Rantzen’s The Silver Line charity. So throughout the whole year Stannah’s 1500 employees are doing their best to add to the initial donation by fundraising or volunteering for The Silver Line. It’s become a bit of a competition between our UK branches with local events happening all summer long.
The network of office managers rarely meet up, we’re too busy managing! So when the idea of doing a challenge together was mentioned everyone was in!”
The challenge was to walk around Carsington Water in Derbyshire to clock up as many miles as possible. Some of the team completed a very impressive 18 miles.
Sam Smith from the Mansfield branch commented: “The Stannah Group really supported our initiative, funding travel, accommodation and some great tee-shirts celebrating our partnership with The Silver Line.”
Sharron Barnes from Dartford adds: “In our busy lives we should make more time for getting to know our colleagues, it’s been a lovely social event . We all agree we are immensely proud of our company supporting older people. The Silver Line is a perfect match with our stairlift customers so we’re doing as much as we can to promote the charity, including volunteering as a Silver Line friend. A few minutes of our time can make a huge difference to someone else’s.”
The Office Managers team raised well over £2000 for their cause and extend a huge thank you to all their supporters.
