Sustainability & style from Marley Alutec

Taking advantage of the contemporary lines of Marley Alutec’s composite aluminium Evoke fascia and soffit system and Aligator Boxer guttering, a unique renovation and self build project in Kent has blended modern style and technologies with traditional architecture.

The first phase of the project involved the complete renovation of an old Methodist Chapel located on the site in Goudhurst, Kent, while the second has seen an ambitious new build take shape called Chapel View. Nick Leggett, a chartered surveyor and Partner of NDL Consulting, and his business and life partner Sonja Johnson took on the project with the view of creating two properties that complimented each other, whilst both having their own distinct style.

Nick commented: “When starting the project we were after a real mixture of traditional and modern materials; of natural surfaces and clean lines. After seeing Marley Alutec’s Evoke fascia and soffit and Aligator Boxer ranges at a recent trade show I knew it was the perfect fit for this project as its square box sections provided the contemporary detail I wanted. I also wanted the rainwater systems to match the fenestration so the fact that the Evoke range is available in the same RAL 7016 dark grey colour was a real selling point".

The entire system is fully recyclable making it one of the most sustainable ranges available in the UK. In addition, the manufacture of aluminium composite board uses approximately 75 per cent less energy than that needed to manufacture the equivalent volume in solid aluminium sheet. Nick continued "sustainability of Marley Alutec’s products and the thermal efficiency of our exterior envelope using the ICF system, were key factors in helping us to build in this way and I would highly recommend them to other self builders".
