Tarkett flooring goes boldly on!

Tarkett flooring goes boldly on!

In 2006, a vast collection of Tarkett flooring was installed throughout a new build school in Boldon, South Tyneside. With over 1000 pupils attending every year, the flooring has had to withstand intensive daily use over the last 6 years. Throughout that time, Tarkett has given outstanding performance, with all the floors still looking as fresh as the day they were installed. And they are still delivering high performance, beautiful surfaces that continue to meet the needs of this busy school environment.

Tarkett’s Veneto xf linoleum flooring was specified for the main circulation zones as these receive the highest levels of daily traffic and required a robust, hard-wearing solution. The unique xf surface protection on Veneto xf gives it an extremely tough surface, second only to diamonds. With superior resistance to abrasion, stains and chemicals and easy cleaning and maintenance, Veneto xf is guaranteed to perform year after year. As a natural, renewable product, it also boasts an excellent environmental profile, and the xf surface protection allows up to 50% savings on water, detergent and energy.

Elizabeth Hayes, Head Teacher at Boldon said: “Tarkett’s linoleum has proved an excellent choice for the school. In particular, the ground floor circulation areas have had to cope with heavy daily use, but the original designs still look attractive and modern. All the floors are serviceable and very easy to clean and maintain. They continue to meet the high demands of our school and I’m sure that will continue into the future.”

As the pupils and staff at Boldon can testify, selecting good quality flooring right at the start pays dividends in the long term. For example, in the science labs Tarkett’s acoustic Tapiflex flooring has given exceptional service, standing up to 6 years of student footfall, chemical spills and all manner of general wear and tear. Chosen for the wet areas in the art rooms, Tarkett’s Safetred Universal is also still providing an attractive and safe surface for the students thanks to it’s sustainable slip-resistance properties.

All the Tarkett floorcoverings used at Boldon School continue to offer outstanding resistance to wear and tear, with minimal maintenance, thanks to the inclusion of Tarkett’s 3rd generation PUR surface treatments. These offer significant cost savings on cleaning and maintenance to give some of the best life cycle costs on the market, and guarantee the floors will perform to the highest standards year after year, even in the most demanding environments.
