Type of works: replacement of the faulty rooflight over the computer suite at Tendring Primary School.

Tendring Primary School is one of twelve schools to benefit from the PPP schools contract between Essex County Council and the Kier Group to carry out extensive maintenance and construction work.

A series of upgrades were carried out including the replacement of the faulty rooflight over the computer suite with a Ubbink Isolight. Speed and ease of installation helped the contractors carry out the refurbishment within a strict time frame minimising disruption to the school.

This continuous rooflight system was particularly appropriate for the project as it is manufactured to individual project requirements and can be supplied to any length, allowing the new rooflight to fit seamlessly in the existing opening. Isolight is made from double skin polycarbonate in powder coated aluminium frames and has UV protective polycarbonate glazing materials to provide impact damage resistance. The Isolight also features a convenient ventilation system.

The finished product demonstrates that Ubbink Isolight does not only enhance the natural light in the school building; it also creates a pleasant and environmentally sensitive atmosphere where pupils and staff can work in comfort.
