The Art of Training

The Art of Training

Sika-Trocal’s new training academy is becoming increasingly popular and runs four specialist courses for its network of licensed approved contractors. Whether you are a fitter, project manager or are involved in the flat roofing sector, there is something for everyone.

The training school was opened in June 2008 and has quickly become an important part of the service offering for Sika-Trocal, who believes it offers more than most in the single ply flat roofing sector. There is a licensed contractor management training course, two courses for fitters relating to different membranes and a short maintenance course.

Licenced contractor management training is aimed at project managers, supervisors, es-timators etc and is a 2-day course. Day 1 of the course is more practically based and day 2 moves into the specification and applications for the product. Collectively, the course includes applications, design, different roof types, site management, building regulations and wind loading issues and calculations.

The fitters training is a comprehensive 2-day course for the Type S, SG and SGmA membranes with a further day for the Type SGK membrane. The courses cover products, fixings, various applications, site management and overall best practice. For those versed in other flat roofing systems or new to the sector it‘s a comprehensive programme that once completed will ensure that each fitter is capable of installing Sika-Trocal products to the highest possible standards.

Tim Clark, National Sales Manager of Sika-Trocal comments: “We’ve spent considerable time developing our training programmes, to ensure that our licensed contractors are some of the best in the flat roofing sector. Training is a fundamental part of our industry and we will continue to invest in our programmes, it helps set us and our contractors apart from the competition and helps raise standards in construction.”
