The BOX Seat at Gold Coast Aquatic Centre

The BOX Seat at Gold Coast Aquatic Centre

Venue: Gold Coast Aquatic Centre
Product: The BOX Seat 901 Model

Perched on the edge of the coastline overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Southport, Australia, is a naturally impressive sight to behold. But, following a recent $40 million dollar redevelopment to make the venue ‘host-worthy’ in time for some of the most significant swimming contests in the sporting calendar, it has become an absolute show-stealer of a complex.

3,500 BOX Seat 901s have been installed as part of the significant upgrade; deemed necessary to meet requirements for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The project was brought forward, however, to take advantage of the opportunity to host the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in 2014 and was still delivered ahead of schedule and under budget. As the most economical choice within The BOX Seat hierarchy, the 901 model provides venues with an affordable seating solution, without compromising on versatility or spectator comfort.

From the BOX Seats installed, 2,500 have been fitted as temporary solutions for these major events and the stand that’s in place specifically for the Pan Pacific championships is the only non-permanent stand to have been built with a cantilevered roof. Redevelopment of the Aquatic Centre is one of the most momentous Commonwealth Games legacy projects and has now provided the Gold Coast with a swimming and diving venue that’s truly world-class.
