The Buckingham School, Buckingham

A smart new outdoor dining area forms part of a £2 million transformation of The Buckingham School to boost pupil capacity.

Buckinghamshire Council commissioned the project to grow the school’s intake to a total of 1,050 students across Years 7 to 11.

The works included conversion of an old motor vehicle workshop into additional dining facilities, remodelling of classrooms; creation of science laboratories and prep rooms; refurbishment of changing room and toilet facilities; and the development of a courtyard to create an al fresco dining area.

Working for contractor Borras Construction, Broxap Street Furniture supplied 26 Tyneside Picnic Units to the site.

Manufactured from perforated steel sheet, the heavy duty picnic benches are hot dip galvanised and powder coated RAL 9005 Black ensure longevity and durability.

The dining tables are complemented with modern Synergy Litter Bins, each with 200-litre capacity and featuring the Tidyman logo.

Andrew McGinnes, Headteacher at The Buckingham School said: “We are very proud of this wonderful school and our growing reputation.

“We are rapidly growing in size as a school and the investment in this development means that our students are enjoying first-class science teaching, a wonderful indoor and outdoor dining area, as well as the latest design in safe and hygienic toilets and changing rooms.

“With six new general classrooms on top of that, it has been a fantastic lift for the whole school. The Buckingham Way strives to give our students the best, and these facilities will support our student-centred approach no end.”
