The Swan Takes Off - Environmental Accreditation for NorDan's NTech Windows

Leading supplier of high performance environmentally-friendly doors and windows, NorDan is now officially a world leader in environmental performance with the international recognition of the Swan eco-label.

The accreditation, held by the manufacturer’s highly energy-efficient NTech Passive products, has recently been named one of the world’s best environmental labelling schemes. The Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) analysed 207 standards and methods used by international environmental labels and identified the ones that provide the best guarantee of sustainability in production. The Swan label was one of just four standards selected as world leaders.

The scheme, run by the Nordic Council of Ministers, initially covered the Nordic countries only, but has been increasingly used and recognised outside of northern Europe.

The Swan accreditation is held by NorDan’s triple-glazed NTech Passive windows, which have an industry-leading whole window U-value of just 0.7 W/m²K, giving a 54% reduction in energy loss over Building Regulations standards.

This high performance has been made possible by use of a thermal break of environmentally-friendly insulating board in both sash and frame, together with warm edge technology silicon spacers with reduced thermal conductivity. A low-emissivity coating on two of the three panes maximises energy efficiency.
