Break time for the children and staff of Thornton School in Washwood Heath Birmingham, has been significantly improved thanks to the specification of nine new Luxaflex Zenith awnings installed by Central Awnings and manufactured by Hunter Douglas.

The project, which was funded by Birmingham City council, was completed in less than three weeks during the school holidays following a direct request from the school governors to solve the problem posed by the sunny position of the school playground.

The awnings featured an interesting fabric design chosen from the extensive Hunter Douglas Dickson Constant range. They measured up to nine metres wide with a three-metre projection that provided protection from the sun via a large shaded area that extended around the inner perimeter of the schools quadrangle.
