Over 400 Leaderflush Shapland and Fitzpatrick door sets were supplied to Broadway School in Perry Barr; Holte, Mayfield & Lozells Schools; and Stockland Green Technology College as part of the Birmingham Building Schools for the Future programme. Doorsets were specified from the Leaderflush Shapland Designer range to meet performance characteristics of up to 60 minutes fire resistance and from the Extended Performance range to achieve 38 RwdB sound reduction.

Door sets were specified using EnduraCor, Leaderflush Shapland’s exclusive engineered performance core whose durability and stability make it especially suitable for harsh environments like schools. In a recent independent test, EnduraCor was shown to be one hundred times more durable than multi-layered chipboard, achieving 1,000 more impacts than required by EN1192 Class 4 (at which point, the test was stopped) as well as achieving 2 million cycles, 1 million more than required by EN1191 Class 8. This highly cost-effective solution could significantly reduce ‘whole life’ repair and maintenance costs in schools and may never have to be replaced.

Fitzpatrick Rebound board doors, which comply with the Sport England design and technical guidelines, were installed in sports halls to provide increased security and to conceal panic bar door furniture, preventing accidental usage when struck by balls. Further steel doorsets were also specified from the Fitzpatrick Securicel range to provide increased levels of security.
