Western Red Cedar shingles offer a fantastic alternative to traditional roof and wall tiles due to their durability, attractive appearance, outstanding insulation properties and ease of installation.
Cedar shingles roof tiles have been used for hundreds of years and have proven their durability in all kinds of climates. They can be used to create individual buildings, whether traditional or modern, and their rich, warm colour and texture blend beautifully in any natural environment. The natural effects of ageing and weathering give shingles, in time, an attractive silvery grey colour.
Suitable for commercial and residential projects alike, shingles provide an outstanding natural option for roofing and cladding.
Silva Timber offer four grades of Western Red Cedar shingles, along with pre-formed hip and ridge units, pressure treated battens and stainless steel ring shank nails, ready for immediate nationwide delivery.

Certi-label Products
Cedar Shingles and Shakes, manufactured by members of the Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau, are the only products labelled with the Certi brand name. As part of the Certi-Wood family, Certi-label cedar shingles and shakes are manufactured by experienced craftsmen who take pride in their trade and the quality of their product. Member mills are bound by a rigid code and independent inspections ensure that product quality is maintained.
Silva Timber only buy Certigrade products from Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau members to ensure product quality and consistency. Not all Western Red Cedar shingles and shakes in the UK are the same. For quality assurance, always specify Certi-label products.

Fire Treated shingles and shakes are available to British Regulation standard. Specify NON-COM® EXTERIOR for exterior or severe damp situations.
Sustainability
Western Red Cedar and other species in British Columbias forests are harvested under a sustained yield policy which guarantees forest regeneration and biologoical diversity. Shingle and shake production, which is virtually pollution free, is a secondary operation utilising waste residuals from British Columbias main logging and sawmilling industry.
Because the manufacturing process of Certi-label cedar shingles and shakes is labour intensive, as opposed to energy intensive, the environment benefits further since there is less energy consumed from fossil fuel or natural gas source depletion.
As a truly renewable product with a low carbon footprint, Western Red Cedar shingles and shakes are unrivalled as an environmentally friendly roofing material.
