Top Flight Flooring Solution for Lufthansa Technik
Flowcretes position as a leading force in European flooring has taken a major step forward with a high profile installation in Malta.
The Cheshire-based flooring manufacturer - which recently secured the Queens Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category - has been involved in the new-build of an extensive hangar facility for German aviation giant Lufthansa Technik, based at Malta International Airport.
Flowcrete and its Malta-based approved flooring contractor Flock Image, have been involved in the project for 18 months, installing a state-of-the-art floor finish across an area of 38,000 square metres.
Designed to expand Lufthansa Techniks operations at the site, the facility includes three separates hangars as well as all associated back shops, warehousing and infrastructure.
The new development was officially inaugurated by Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, who walked all over Flowcretes floor to applaud Lufthansa Technik for its investment towards achieving excellence in high value added manufacturing.
Gonzi also congratulated the Maltese workforce, including those at Flock Image, who had played such a pivotal role in constructing the new high-tech facility.
A grey-coloured version of Flowcretes Peran STC, developed exclusively by Flock Image and known locally under the name of Hammerflow, was used to floor the entire area of the new development.
This state-of-the-art floor is a seamless epoxy-based clear resin system that offers excellent resistance to UV rays, as well as a wide range of chemical compounds used in the aviation industry.
Virtually odourless, its solvent and Nonylphenol-free formulation ensures that no harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are released in the atmosphere during application.
Tony Gear, exports director for Flowcrete with responsibility for Europe, said, This project is a testament to the quality and flexibility of our products, the system was chosen for its impressive wear and chemical resistance making it the ideal surface underfoot for the aviation industry.
