Manchester Airport City

Manchester Airport Group Plc has put in its planning application for a £400M development to build the UK's first Airport City as part of Manchester's Enterprise Zone.

Airport City will include offices, accommodation, mixed industrial space, hotels, retail and a new public realm known as Central Park which will feature pavilions, event space, retail outlets, coffee houses, bars and restaurants

The Design and Build contract is for the redevelopment of a 65-acre area of land to the north of Manchester Airport's terminals and railway station. Airport City North features 650,000 sq ft of advanced manufacturing accommodation, along with a 2,400 bed hotel with amenity and support services.

The Manchester Airport City Enterprise Zone is a string of linked sites focused around Manchester Airport, Wythenshawe Centre and University Hospital South Manchester Foundation Trust.

The Airport City scheme is due to start at the beginning of 2014.
