Project: Blavatnik School Of Government
Architects: Herzog & de Meuron

Herzog & de Meuron has secured planning permission for the £30 million Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University.

The school will be built on a plot within the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, masterplanned by Rafael Vinoly, and comprises a series of stacked elliptical floors of decreasing size.

The scheme is for a six storey building for use as university school of government, with associated landscaping works. The 9,800sq m building contains a mix of spaces including large teaching areas on the lower levels and rooms for academic and research activities requiring a quieter environment on the upper floors.

A library research tower at the top of the school overlooks an outdoor terrace and provides views of the university’s Library Square and the city of Oxford.
