Tudor offers the historic 11” x 7” peg tile as standard

Tudor Roof Tile Co Ltd, Britain's foremost independent handmade clay roof tile manufacturer, is introducing the 11” x 7” (279mm x178mm) peg tile as part of its standard range.

Historically one of the most popular peg tile sizes in England, the 11” x 7” is still very much in demand, particularly for restoration work and conservation projects, where second hand reclaimed tiles are often in short supply.

Tudor Roof Tile’s 11” x 7” offers a gentle double camber with subtle tones and textures, which blend well with historic buildings requiring this format. Made from the finest English clay, the 11” x 7” is available as a peg tile or a plain tile (nibbed).

Manufactured using traditional craftsmanship, each tile is hand pressed, moulded and trimmed, and then strengthened by advanced firing techniques to give the final product exceptional performance and durability, which is guaranteed for many years to come.

“By recreating this popular historic tile size and incorporating it into our standard range, we can offer architects and conservationists a cost effective as well as highly authentic looking alternative to sourcing expensive second hand reclaimed tiles for their heritage projects,” said Paul John Lythgoe, Managing Director of Tudor Roof Tile Co Ltd.

The 11” x 7” tile is available in non sand faced ‘natural clay’ and sand faced ‘weathered earth’ tones in addition to the traditional sand-faced colours: Medium Antique, Dark Antique, Red Antique, Sussex Brown, Sussex Red, and Jubilee.

All Tudor roof tiles are CE marked to EN 1304:2005(E) standards for frost resistance, water impermeability and flexural strength.
