When it comes to employee safety and environmental protection we're always working towards our vision of Zero Harm. To support this vision and as part of our commitment to safe working we've been mandating the use of Nationwide Platforms innovative anti-entrapment solution SkySiren since May of this year.
The SkySiren has been designed to reduce an operator's risk of injury through entrapment when using a boom Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP). Should an operator become trapped the device will stop the access platform as well as alerting colleagues to the incident.
"We used the SkySiren for the first time at The Pembroke Power Station in Wales where it proved to be a key safety feature" explains Brian Whittle (TF&IS Project Director & QEHS Champion) and Steve Leigh (TF&IS Contracting Director).
"Safe working is the most central tenet to any of our work, regardless of the nature or challenges posed by a project. Having worked with Nationwide Platforms to find a safety solution in the past, we've always been interested in finding the latest methods of working that truly represent best practice. Now after seeing the product for ourselves, we are pleased to take the opportunity to mandate the SkySiren and provide what could be critical safeguard to access equipment users on our projects".
We've now issued the mandate to all applicable boom type MEWPs in our supply chain, to ensure that safety remains as one of our top priorities.
