UAP TradeLocks Help to Deliver Christmas Early to Disadvantaged Children

UAP TradeLocks have joined forces with Manchester Key 103 Cash for Kids to help under privileged children keep warm this winter.

UAP TradeLocks are working with Cash for Kids to provide children with an essential winter wardrobe and a special day to remember at Key 103’s Mini Jingle Ball. The Mini Jingle Ball is a Christmas Party held every year for 300 of Manchester’s most disadvantaged children.

UAP TradeLocks are sponsoring the Mini Jingle Ball and after finding out that children attended last years’ event without a coat or shoes, UAP are also forming a Care Grant to provide 80 children with a coat, school shoes, socks and a hat, glove and scarf set. In total UAP will be donating £19,000.00 to Key 103 Cash for Kids.

The whole of the UAP Team will be getting involved and will personally be going to the shops to purchase the clothes for the children. Staff will also be giving up their lunch breaks to wrap the packages, adding a special touch for when the children receive them.

Several of the UAP Team will also be giving their time to volunteer at the Mini Jingle Ball helping to supervise the children and making sure everyone is having an amazing time.

UAP’s MD, David Jennings said: “As a local company we have a responsibility to the help where possible and the Mini Jingle Ball presented the perfect opportunity to do this. We have been given the chance to give truly underprivileged children experiences that most children take for granted such as attending a party, visiting Father Christmas and receiving a Christmas present.

When we heard that children attended the event last year without shoes or a coat I knew I could not let that happen this year. I asked Cash for Kids to help us form a Care Grant so that we could provide the winter essentials for these children. All of us at UAP feel very strongly for this cause and everyone is looking forward to getting stuck in doing something special for these kids.”

Key 103 Cash for Kids is a grant giving charity, raising funds to support children experiencing poverty, abuse, neglect and distress. The Mini Jingle Ball is an annual event which aims to provide 300 disadvantaged children with the best Christmas party they can imagine with a 70ft inflatable dragon, bouncy castle, build a bear, face painting, a Santa’s Grotto and much more.

This is the first year that UAP TradeLocks have sponsored the event and also the first year that the Care Grant will run. Cash for Kids will work with schools, social workers and relevant organisations to put together a list of 80 children to receive the Care Grant. UAP TradeLocks will then purchase the clothing and distribute them to the families.

Becky Dixon, Fundraising Manager at Key 103 Cash for Kids said: “Key 103 Cash for Kids are delighted that UAP TradeLocks have chosen to support us through both providing Care Grants and sponsorship of the Mini Jingle Ball.

Greater Manchester has the highest levels of child poverty, outside of London, in the UK. One in four children goes to bed without a hot meal, central heating or a full school uniform to put on in the morning.

The support of UAP TradeLocks means we are able to reach out and support the children most affected in our local area this winter.”

The Mini Jingle Ball will be held on Sunday 9th December 2012 between 12-3pm and will be open to children up to the age of 8. Children will be greeted by mascots and characters, will be served lunch and will enjoy a whole host of entertainment including an appearance by Santa Claus.
