Four years ago Darrell Pollikett bought a plot of land in the beautiful, sought after, Winchester countryside. Mr Pollikett faced strict regulations from the council due to the “countryside” classification on the land, which dictated the permitted design and specification of a build. The stunning build is now completed and features over 30 sash windows by Dale.

The decision was made and plans agreed to build a large, luxurious house featuring five bedrooms and three en suites, set within an acre of land. The house boasts a high specification kitchen, bathrooms and fixtures and fittings throughout, with attention to detail being the aspiration throughout the project. The hub of the home is the cleverly designed 50ft kitchen, featuring two sets of timber bi fold doors, one of which spans almost 5 metres in width.

Energy efficiency and sustainability was an important element to the build, one of the reasons why timber sash windows and doors were chosen to go into the property. Mr Pollikett explains “I always planned to put timber sash windows in due to the quality and the look.” He researched and received quotes from a variety of companies but when Mr Pollikett’s chosen builders merchant, Elliotts, introduced Dale Windows to him, he was happy that the price was reasonable and the quality was of a high standard, meaning Dale was the chosen supplier.

Acoustic glass was used in certain areas of the property to give an extra peaceful feel to the rooms. Almost thirty made to measure timber sash windows were installed, all finished in Signal White with 27mm astragal squares.

Now complete and marketed for £1.9 million, the development has won the “NHBC Pride In The Job Award”, signifying the quality, attention to detail and finishing. Mr Pollikett is delighted to be progressing through to the regional finals in the near future.

As a builder of one-off, bespoke properties, Darrell hopes to embark on a new project in the near future, stating “I would use Dale Windows again.”

Sash Windows
Sash windows from Dale Joinery were the most appropriate product for this style of home. The new windows have a single vertical glazing bar, and are finished in the timeless shade of ‘Signal White’.

Bi-Fold Doors
Opening up the living areas seamlessly with the home’s large garden, a large, 5 panel set of bi-fold doors were installed. The doors span over 4.5 metres wide and offer beautiful views and plenty of natural light.
