The company was founded in 1962 by Cecil Duckworth who decided to start a new business called Worcester Engineering. The business grew steadily, and in the 1970s pioneered the introduction of the combi-boiler to the market.
In 1992, the Bosch Group took the opportunity to acquire and build on the success of this growing company, which is now commonly known as Worcester. Worcester has benefited from the expertise, quality principles and continued investment of the Bosch organisation, which has built on the existing strengths of a responsive, traditional and growing company.
Today, Worcester is responding to the demands of the high-efficiency appliances in line with the Government's policy on climate-change reduction and fuel poverty. With an extensive range of energy-efficient products, as well as a serious commitment to sustainable energy resources, Worcester is highly respected and has earned its reputation in the market by responding rapidly to new challenges and providing the right product range and services to customers to meet ever-changing demands.
With more than 1,600 employees at Worcester, and at its manufacturing site in Clay Cross, Derbyshire, Worcester is a growing force in the industry, and one of the leading manufacturers in the UK.
