CRASH, the UK construction industry’s charity, unites the construction industry by channelling the professional expertise, construction products and donations of their Corporate Patrons and supporters to transform hostels, day centres and homes for homeless people. CRASH also creates caring environments where children and adults, who need end of life care in a hospice, can spend precious time with the people they love.

At CRASH they help homelessness charities and hospices with construction projects - and they couldn’t do that without the backing of some of the best companies in the industry.

CRASH helps homelessness charities and hospices by bringing together construction companies to share their skills and products to refurbish vital buildings. Last year they were able to help 40 different charity projects across the UK.

One charity CRASH helped this year is Emmaus Hertfordshire, who support formerly homeless people (known as Companions) to rebuild their lives by providing a home for as long as they need it, tailored support, meaningful work & training, and a sense of belonging.

CRASH helped Emmaus Hertfordshire to replace their leaking roof - water was leaking through into companions’ bedrooms, and major defects meant the roof was at the end of its economic life.

CRASH sourced pro-bono support from roofing specialists and offered a grant to Emmaus Hertfordshire to cover the remaining costs, meaning that there has been no cost to the charity for their new roof. The saving allows Emmaus Hertfordshire to shift their focus and funds back into the support and service they offer to companions and the local community.

Duncan Lewis, Chief Executive at Emmaus Hertfordshire said,
“CRASH provides incredible support to charities like ours and we can’t thank them enough. Not only have they connected us with these amazing local contractors, but they have also been generous enough to cover the remaining cost of the work. This is just one step in a large programme of maintenance works which our community building so desperately needs.”

CRASH also helps hospices with their construction projects to create dignified and quality environments to share precious moments. For example, recently improving accessibility for patients and visitors at a hospice in Derbyshire and creating a ‘Teen Space’ for teens with a life-limiting illness and siblings of patients at a children’s hospice in Oxford.

CRASH have launched their annual ‘Christmas card appeal’ for the winter of 2023. As an industry, you have the power to make an impact with every donation to the CRASH Christmas card appeal.

For this year’s annual Christmas card appeal, companies can donate in the lead up to Christmas in return for an animated e-card with their logo and a unique link to share with clients and colleagues.

All pledges will receive and animated e-card, generously created by Communication Design Partnership (CDP). For donations of £2,000+ your company logo will feature pride of place in thank you advertisements covered by leading industry press in the new year. For donations of £600+, the company name will be included on CRASH’s ‘thank you’ communications.
