100% IBAA for Public Utility Trench re-instatement applications

100% IBAA for Public Utility Trench re-instatement applications

Blue Phoenix Group was chosen to supply 100% IBAA aggregate for the installation of a new 33,000 volt underground electricity cables from Cherry Tree Grid Substation on Gale Street, Parsloes Park, Dagenham.

The project consisted of 2,560 linear metres of 200mm diameter cables across 1,665 linear meters of carriageway within 1-2 metre deep 650mm width trench.

Pipes were laid and bedded in 300mm thick sand surround capped with 500-600mm thick IBAA Type 1 with 100-285mm asphalt overlay.

IBAA had been chosen as a viable sustainable secondary aggregate, trench fill.

IBAA is an extremely cost effective material when compared to Primary Aggregates and BPL is working towards a PAS 2050 compliant Carbon Footprint and will strive for Carbon Trust verification once the project is complete.

The aggregates produced is carbon neutral using data available from Europe and UK sources.

There are also advantages logistically when using IBAA due to the low density of the material allowing for fewer vehicle movements as this gives volumetric advantages over primary materials.
