Aliva UK have provided their façade solutions to two shortlisted projects.
The Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA) awards 2018 have recognised Aliva’s work on both the Winter Gardens project at Weston College and a refurbishment project in Greater Manchester, by shortlisting them for the Architectural Design Award and the Refurbishment Award.
For the Winter Gardens project, Aliva delivered a clean, crisp façade in white insulated render and ceramic tile – featuring an innovative water-jet cut logo design.
Aliva was briefed to create a façade that nods to the site’s classic art deco beginnings, while looking to the future as the college attract new students to the 90-year-old seafront site.
For the project in Greater Manchester, Aliva worked with installer Hamilton First Ltd on Wythenshawe High Rise – three 12-storey blocks that needed both thermal and external upgrade.
Aliva UK was asked to supply a BBA approved external wall system that could be used without height restriction, and allowed for the use of a textured finish in the colours required. Aliva also supplied a brick slip over a mineral wool insulation to complement the traditionally laid brickwork to the apartment blocks.
Aliva’s Termok8 Minerale system was chosen due to its A2 fire rating, a system of limited combustibility, given the building was over 18 metres in height.
The winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner in Manchester in November.
