All is well with Al-Wall [BLOG]

Glass is a popular façade choice for commercial and increasingly domestic buildings too, being chosen as much for its practical qualities as for the aesthetic advantages it offers.

In any building where the feeling of openness, brightness and views of the outside world are important, glass is likely to be the predominant material used for the exterior cladding. Glass combines light, transparency and appearance with practical features such as thermal insulation, solar control, acoustics, fire protection, safety and security. And that is not to mention the physical versatility of glass which can literally be chosen to work alongside any other material and within any landscape.

However, installing glass to building exteriors is not without its challenges. The use of appropriate systems and solutions that ensure safety of the installers and end users while enabling a quick, seamless installation is vital.

Creating a protective envelope around buildings, the CRL Langle Al-Wall® system is quick and simple to install, with a clever clip design fixing the individual glass panels and eradicating the need for complex glass cut-outs.

Commonly specified as an effective method of regenerating an existing building, the CRL Langle Al-Wall® System creates a modern impression with a highly durable and long-lasting finish. The innovative rainscreen system ensures a safe ventilation of the building and guards against the elements, with a premium coated aluminium that is completely weather proof. The system has also been salt spray and statically tested, ensuring that it is able to withstand the harshest of conditions.

These benefits make the system particularly suitable for applications such as parking garages and lift shafts, creating a good visual effect to a building’s exterior while ensuring the structure is in keeping with its surroundings.

It is these advantages that led construction company Goldbeck to choose the CRL Langle Al-Wall® System for its parking garages, with lead project manager Mike Tünker explaining: “Due to redesigning our system staircase front for parking garages we needed a wall fitting which suited the overall look of the frontage. The Al-Wall® System was adjusted and modified to suit our installation needs, making it the ideal solution.”

Commenting on what makes the CRL Langle Al-Wall® System such a good fit for Goldbeck projects, Tünker explained: “The system is not only space-saving and cost-effective but also bey simple to fit, with installation straightforward thanks to the innovative fittings. In addition to this, small tolerances in construction and glass can be compensated without any problem. When compared to point fitting systems this is an extremely efficient installation method, as no labour intensive processing like drilling and countersinking of the glass is required.”

Visually there are advantages too, as the Langle glass fittings can be provided in all RAL colours or anodized so the colour meets the design of the rest of the building. As a complete design and install solution, CRL Langle Al-Wall® System responds to the big trend for frameless glass on the exterior of buildings and results in an improved aesthetic with minimal fuss.
