Amtico apprentice James Todd has been awarded ‘Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year’ for his commitment to a new kind of training apprenticeship at Amticos’ Coventry site, supported by MGTS.
James is currently studying broad operations management, consisting of intense projects ranging from CAD to health, safety, environment, and engineering.
At the end of the four year apprenteship he will gain a BTEC level 3 diploma, equipped with the skills to work alongside manufacturing experts in the industry as a technical engineer.
James said: “It's hard work but I have fun. It's a massive learning opportunity to push yourself too. Straight from the interview when I was shown around I felt welcome at Amtico and so it made my decision easier when I had to choose between here and another employer.”
“People want to know how you're doing and are helpful. It's been educational but also really practical so far."
Ian Lloyd, Head of Manufacturing at Amtico said: "We've always had strong relationships with apprentices, but for James and anyone studying with MGTS you get a different level of operational management learning, a good understanding of the way different departments work and our LVT flooring in general."
