James Latham has just announced a major breakthrough for Flamebreak door blanks after the manufacturer secured a significantly improved thermal performance for the product, bringing it well inside current building regulation levels.
The product, which was tested by Chiltern Dynamics and validated by the BFRC (British Fenestration Rating Council), achieved a rounded up figure of 0.9W/m2 K for the Flamebreak FD60 and 1.1W/m2 K for the Flamebreak FD30.
Flamebreak door blanks, which are available from every one of Lathams nine panel depots, are manufactured with a special three layer tri-laminated hardwood timber core, which helps to eliminate gaps. They are available in a wide range of thicknesses, sizes and surface finishes, and can be supplied as lipped or un-lipped.
The Flamebreak range, which has been manufactured and tested in accordance with British Standard BS476 (Part 22 1987) achieve PAS23 and PAS24, and have also attained DD171 accreditation as well as meeting the requirements of the BWF Certifire Scheme.
Lathams Product Champion for Doors, Steve Frommont, said: These results are significant for the door blank market and put Flamebreak in pole position with regards to thermal performance. Flamebreak boast a long list of technical and environmental features and benefits and weighing in at only 31kg each for a 2135 x 915 x 44mm, means a single door blank can easily be worked and machined by one man.
