Barbour Product Search announces partnership with AECB

With sustainability higher than ever on the agenda, building professionals are now looking for better guidance on how to build low energy and sustainable buildings. Responding to this need, Barbour Product Search, in partnership with the Association for Environment Conscious Building (AECB) has launched a new Sustainable Buildings Hub to inform and inspire the UK construction industry.

The AECB is a long lived membership organisation supporting a wide range of members – many pioneers and experts in their fields – from academics, housing associations and product manufacturers to researchers, trainers, architects and tradespeople - who actively develop, share and promote practical green building best practice.

Since 1989 the AECB has been encouraging the adoption of better ways of designing and building, including developing robust and practical building standards and training courses. As a lead influencer in this industry, Barbour Product Search approached the AECB to partner with it on this Hub. Through this partnership, the AECB and Barbour Product Search are positioned to educate and inform the construction sector on the methods and benefits of sustainable building practices.

The Sustainable Buildings Hub will be free to access on Barbour Product Search website and will include:

• Technical information
• Links to low energy building databases projects and
• Links to training and building standards
• Guidance

James Allen, the Development & Communications Manager at the AECB commented: “Successful green building requires an integrated design and specification approach, working to clear targets or standards and with a clear focus on avoiding the building performance gap – ‘better design, better building’. Well-informed design and specification of materials, systems and products is crucial. We are proud to be partnering with Barbour Product Search via this education hub - to help support the wider construction industry in successfully negotiating the environmental construction challenges we face”.

A spokesperson for Barbour Product Search said: “The AECB and its expert practitioner network have built up a wealth of knowledge during the last 30 years in how to reduce the environmental impact of construction. We are delighted that our customers will be benefiting from their technical expertise and knowledge sharing and look forward to the Sustainability Technology Hub becoming a well-used resource on our website.”
