Bird Brick Houses’ Bat Boxes make an ideal home for most of the UK’s bat species, including Pipistrelles, who will use them for roosting, hibernating and bringing up their young.
The Boxes are designed to be quick and easy to fit into the outside skin of 75mm and most 3″ brickwork courses, where Stretcher, English or Flemish quarter bond is being used. Specially adapted boxes are available for render, stone and weatherboarding.
Bat boxes can be supplied in brick fronted, half bond and quarter bond brickwork or alternatively with a stainless steel mesh fitted to the front.
The mesh ensures optimum adhesion in render and stonework applications; a basic version can be fitted directly behind weatherboarding or into studwork.
When fitted into a brick outer skin, the back of the box protrudes behind by around 25mm, thereby avoiding bridging the cavity. Where brick matching is required, we arrange for a brick collection from the site. Finished bat homes are then returned ready to install, generally within a working week following the initial safe receipt of bricks.
The bat boxes are self-cleaning thanks to an internal tilt board; this works by diverting droppings out through the entrance hole.
