Canal Engineering were chosen to supply three matching cantilever staircases for this multi-million pound house in Jersey.
The staircases are made with American walnut timber and low iron, glass balustrade running throughout the property.
The hidden metal work within the wall achieves the seamless floating effect of this staircase. The first fix involved mechanically fixing a structural steel stringer to the wall with protruding, welded cantilever channels.
The steel cantilever channels provided access to the first floor to complete the same process for the remaining floors.
Glass balustrades, timber treads and stainless steel handrails where installed by the Canal team after the first fixing stage.
The unique features of the cantilever staircases are the American walnut box treads. Each tread is manufactured at a longer length so that an end piece can be cut to hide any steel balustrade fixings.
