Cavity Drain System Installation Guide – available for download now!

Triton Systems has completely revised and fully updated its comprehensive cavity drain system installation manual.

The 72-page manual covers all aspects of Type C structural waterproofing systems (as defined in British Standard 8102:2009) and includes sections on membranes designed for internal and external use, installation and maintenance of pumps and drainage systems, photographic illustrations of installations and many detail drawings.

Cavity drain membranes are made of studded high-density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Polypropylene (PP) sheets which are impervious to water, moisture vapour and Radon gas.

When placed against structures, the studs form a permanent cavity or air gap between the structure and the internal shell. They can be used internally or externally to drain and manage water and damp ingress.

They do not add to the structural stress to which the basement walls and floor may be subjected and, unlike traditional ‘tanking’ materials, they do not de-bond from weak substrates when hydrostatic pressure comes to bear or, in the case of partial waterproofing, cause the water to migrate to a previously unaffected area. Issues relating to the risk of slab floatation and integrity are also reduced when cavity membranes are used.

In new-build underground structures cavity drain membranes are often used in conjunction with a resistant structure (type B integral protection) such as watertight concrete, or an external type A barrier material such as a pre- or post-applied membrane. Such combined or dual systems are very reliable and help the waterproofing specifier or designer demonstrate that consideration of the guidance laid out in BS 8102:2009 has been made.

The revised document is freely available for download from Triton Systems’ website and is an invaluable resource for specialist installers and specifiers of structural waterproofing systems for below ground structures. You can download the manual using the link below.
