Charlton Park Academy is a school in the heart of the community for those with special educational needs. As part of the Priority Schools Building programme, Charlton Park is a government funded scheme led by the Department for Education and Education and Skills Funding Agency. Farrans construction were appointed as the main contractors for the scheme whom BA Systems worked with on the full balustrading package.

BA Systems began correspondence with Farrans Construction at pre-tender stages where they reviewed the initial design information for the full balustrade package. Later, BA Systems were then contacted with a request for a product that was antimicrobial, meaning ‘active against microbes’. With the current need to prevent the spread of infection on key touch surfaces in light of the recent pandemic, BA Systems have been developing their very own range of antimicrobial products which they were able to offer.

BA Systems' VBA99 Antimicrobial Metal is a specially formulated copper alloy that Kills covid-19 in minutes, provides a lifetime protection (no coating) and is tarnish free. BA Systems have been working with the University of Southampton on various tests on the metal, where it was proven to kill 95% of covid-19 within 10 minutes of contact, completely within 1 hour. Superbugs such as MRSA and E-coli and Norovirus are also effectively and rapidly killed by contact with VBA99.
