Clearstone® resin bound surfacing
Aesthetic, durable permeable surfacing which is strong, stylish and eco-friendly with many applications
Why choose resin bound paving?
Resin bound paving consists of aggregate material set in a polymer resin to create a smooth, tough, water-permeable surface. Environmentally sensitive, long-lasting and attractive in appearance, resin bound paving with Clearstone® offers a wide range of benefits.
Innovative and flexible
Available in numerous UV-stable colours and textures, Clearstone® resin bound surfacing from Clearstone Paving Ltd can be matched to any environment. We use natural materials such as real shingle, crushed granite or quartz. Our system even lends itself to creative designs: unlike traditional paving, it can be laid in any number of non-standard patterns and configurations.
Low maintenance and eco-friendly
Clearstone Paving systems allow water to drain naturally through the surface and is tough enough to withstand high-pressure washing, this will keep the paving pristine and weed-free.
From new builds to renovations
Clearstone® resin bound surfacing is well suited to new-build projects which require a sleek, modern look. We can also lay surfaces which blend perfectly with existing buildings and their surroundings - enhancing an old property which requires gentle renovation, or giving an instant facelift to a building which is being totally reinvented.
Heritage sites and listed buildings
English Heritage and the National Trust has approved resin bound surfacing systems for use in historic or prestige environments. With a wide range of natural colours to choose from, Clearstone Paving can create a surface which is sympathetic to any location.
Resin bound surfacing is porous, making it highly suitable for garden paths, tree-pits, driveways and any areas which may be prone to standing water. The aggregate and resin mix has open voids across its surface, allowing air to flow freely and surface water to filter though the structure.
Strong and Smooth
Clearstone® resin bound surfacing is durable; resistant to weeds, staining and cracking; and is buggy- and wheelchair-friendly.
What kind of base is required for a permeable bound surface?
New driveway, path or paved area
Installed as a new surfacing course in new construction projects, we recommend the laying of an MOT type 3 sub-base, over which an open binder course base of porous asphalt is laid, which will allow water to drain though. Clearstone® resin bound surfacing is then cold-mixed on site and hand-trowelled to a seamless, smooth surface on top of the asphalt, laid in curves or angles to a depth of 15 to 18mm. For more information, see our specifications sheets, as downloadable PDFs, from our website.
Existing driveway, path or paved area
Clearstone® resin bound surfacing can be laid on an existing concrete or asphalt surface providing it is in good condition.
