At Cowfold in West Sussex, permeable paving specialists Clearstone have met the challenge laid down by developers Hellett & Holden, who were looking for the perfect surfacing solution in a rural spot.
Clearstone’s resin-bound gravel has provided an attractive welcome to a mews development combining the refurbishment of a Georgian property with the construction of a new dwelling.
With a watchful eye on surface water management, the local authority stipulated highly permeable surfaces for the development - ruling out many traditional options like block paving. Developer Sean Hellett was still keen to find a solution that met the look of the project, so he asked Clearstone to join the team.
Clearstone installed their resin-bound paving in its ‘Chesil’ colour variant, across an area of 220m². Completed in just one day, the new surface is firm and durable, yet has the look of a neatly-kept gravel driveway - and, importantly, meets SuDS drainage regulations.
