Crown Paints takes top ‘green’ manufacturing title

Crown Paints has been recognised for its long-standing commitment to sustainability by a leading manufacturing body. The UK paint manufacturer has secured The Future Manufacturing Awards’ Environmental Excellence title for the North West region.

The awards, organised by manufacturers’ organisation EEF, celebrate businesses in the sector which have shown excellence in their innovation. The award was presented at a celebratory luncheon, held at the A.J. Bell Stadium in Eccles. Crown Paints, which has manufacturing sites in Darwen, Lancashire and Hull, secured the title for taking wide-ranging action across the business – including driving energy and waste reductions, securing zero waste to landfill and achieving high percentage recycling rates - all as part of its award-winning Earthbalance® programme.

A spokesman from the EEF said: “The awards are a celebration of the achievements of manufacturing businesses who have improved operational efficiency, while reducing their environmental impact or developed business opportunities associated with the green agenda. Crown Paints provides a superb example of this approach in action.”
