Efficient external wall insulation for modern accommodation

Efficient external wall insulation for modern accommodation

SPSenvirowall’s highly efficient external wall insulation system has been specified for the Bath Spa University development. The development, delivered by main contractor Miller Construction, is an attractive courtyard design with individual houses for up to 10 students where 561 will be housed in these new residential units amidst the beautiful countryside.

The new build student accommodation provided many challenges to approved sub-contractors; Bristol based Woodman Bros who utilised quality external wall system materials from SPSenvirowall which interfaced seamlessly with stone quoins and window surrounds.

The building was constructed using a pre-fabricated flat slab concrete solution and achieving the thermal performance of 0.18W/(m2k) within the EWI application. The use of a 220mm mineral wool system not only provided the desired thermal performance, but also contributed to the buildings acoustic and fire requirements.

The visually stunning building sits in the existing campus and has been designed in consultation with English Heritage and Natural England which challenged the contractor to replicate a finish that provides a unique blend of modernity and history.
