Beijing’s Phoenix Media Centre lifts China into an unprecedented era in steel innovation. Kone was specified to provide customised lifts and escalators for this uniquely shaped steel building.

Designed by the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, the Phoenix International Media Centre is located in East Beijing’s central business district. Phoenix is an open, multifunctional building providing 65,000 square metres of space for television production, media communication and commercial exhibitions.

Kone was tasked to produce commercial escalators of a vertical height greater than ever before accomplished in China. The accurately designed and customised solutions were a perfect fit in the building’s complex steel structure.

The flexible solutions enabled the installation of two escalators with an extremely high vertical rise, and Kone’s creative noise reduction solutions efficiently minimised noise during the operation.
