FP McCann supply precast hollowcore and solid composite flooring system at Edinburgh residential development

FP McCann has supplied a bespoke retaining front wall system at an Edinburgh residential development nearing completion.

The development, on Kinnear Road, has several unique external and internal features spread across four levels, including a lower level car park under the ground floor.

The building was designed by architects Richard Murphy on behalf of client AMA (New Town) Ltd.

Platform 12 is where FP McCann has supplied their work. The individual units, each weighing 4.5 tonnes, have been cast with facing brick slips and pointed at FP McCann’s Littleport factory in Cambridgeshire.

FP McCann secured the £325,000 supply contract to platform. Construction is now complete at platform level where significant building demolition works was undertaken to allow for the additional 75 metres extension to platform 12. The new platform is 204 metres long.

Speaking on behalf of AMA Construction, site manager Bill Armstrong says, “The precast, prestressed concrete hollowcore planks and reinforced solid composite flooring specified as part of the design and build were all supplied to the highest standard on a just-in-time delivery schedule. The FP McCann contracting team undertook the work in a safe and efficient manner, completing the installation to programme.”
