French oak floor for private residence

French oak floor for private residence

The Solid Wood Flooring Company provided a natural oak floor finish for a private residence.

The client wanted a natural looking Oak floor but also stressed they did not want it to have a yellow tone like some oak floors.

The Solid Wood Flooring Company provided a French Oak and mixed grade ABCD finished with a natural oil.

White oak after finishing with natural oils will look more yellow than French Oak. The natural oils we use react with the natural tannins in the wood to bring out the beauty in the grain and swirly knots.

There are hundreds of species of Oak, such as Quercus Alba which is white American Oak from the Appalachian mountains; Quercus Mongolica which grows in north east Asia and various European Oak species from Quercus Robur to Quercus Patraea.

The Solid Wood Flooring Company manufacture from all species where there is a full chain of custody and they can certify it as FSC 100%.
