Furnitubes’ Elements external seating and tables range was chosen as part of a £5.5 million building and grounds redevelopment scheme at Rowhill School, Aldershot.
The school is for vulnerable children aged 11-16, who, for a variety of reasons are unable to attend mainstream schools. Rowhill’s existing Victorian school building has been completely refurbished and a large two-storey extension added.
The school now has 12 classrooms, a hall, dining room, staff room and administrative offices. An existing workshop building has also been refurbished, to provide a covered workshop for construction skills teaching. Outside, playground areas, a small sports pitch and a landscaped external dining area have been created.
Furnitubes’ Elements range was chosen for the external seating and tables. The Elements Narrow version benches have been used to create an informal arrangement designed for social, outdoor study and dining purposes for the pupils.
In using both high and low versions of the bench and by placing them in close proximity, higher benches can be used as a second tier of seating or as a small table surface.
These products were provided with tough steel fascia plates fitted to the platforms, supplied in a black powder coated finish.
Alongside these seating products are two more conventional table and bench arrangements, from the Elements Standard range, designed to be used primarily for external dining.
