Glazed colour changing façade for youth zone

Glazed colour changing façade for youth zone

Lumaglass has provided a curved glazed exterior colour changing façade for Wolverhampton The Way youth zone. The Architect was faced with a complex and costly dilemma in how best to manage an expensive curved end detail, and how best to show off a building in a reasonably cost conscious manner.

From design concept Lumaglass were able to drastically increase visual impact and light to the interior as we formed single piece glazing into a 7m tall curved façade.

Structural steel was employed on the internals allowing Lumaglass a fix for the wind anchors, and a brick outer skin was built for the prepared opening into which the insulated Lumaglass™ was fitted with wind anchors and wired glass, all line and wind loadings were easily met.
