As the world starts to show some signs of returning to normality, questions are being asked about the health and vitality of the buildings we live and work in.
Forbes recently reported that in a survey conducted by Wakefield Research, 68% of people do not feel completely safe working in the employer’s buildings. This is just one demonstration that while working towards creating modern, design-led buildings appropriate for the new ways of working, architects and designers must make the right choices to ensure they are also healthy environments for all occupants.

Formaldehyde is a substance that occurs naturally in all organic materials, including wood, in very small amounts that may be off-gassed or emitted over time. The MEDITE range is independently tested and exceeds the stringent CARB2 standard for formaldehyde content and off-gassing levels. There are also ranges that have been manufactured with guaranteed no added formaldehyde and also exceed the E1 European Standard level for those sensitive environments.
One such product is MEDITE CLEAR. Specially designed for sensitive interior applications such as hospitals, schools and care homes, it has been proven to have a formaldehyde content of less than 1.0mg/100g—even less than the general outdoor ambient level.
This made it an ideal choice for the refurbishment of Tipperary Museum of Hidden History in the heart of Ireland’s ancient east. It was specified to manufacture components such as display cases and plinths within its interior fit out to protect the museum’s precious artefacts.
