Home Builders Federation Give Timber Expo Buyers Boost

The Home Builders Federation (HBF) is backing one of the highly anticipated elements of Timber Expo by becoming sponsor and show partner for the Timber Buyers Forum. It will also be adding its own exciting dimension to the event with the addition of the HBF Buyers Forum – aimed at bringing key players in the house building sector together face-to- face.

Both Forums will be located at the heart of Timber Expo in the main exhibition space and will be truly exclusive parts of the show. With major names such as ASDA, BAM, B&Q, Jewson, Lend Lease, Laing O’Rourke, Mace and Vinci Construction signed up to take part in the Timber Buyers Forum. After a hugely successful first year, the Timber Buyers Forum returns in a larger, fresh format to provide a simple, structured and highly effective way for timber buyers to meet with new and existing suppliers. Nearly 50 contractors and clients signed up to the Forum last year, amongst them were some of the biggest, most innovative and forward thinking businesses in the construction sector.

The unique HBF Buyers Forum will take place on the first floor of the main Seminar Theatre (constructed by timber frame specialists Frame Wise) and will run along the same lines as the main Timber Buyers Forum. This focused Forum approach has proved to be highly successful in creating new business relationships and facilitating meetings that allow participants to get the most out of their time at Timber Expo. The primary aim of both Forums is for show exhibitors to access relevant Buyers, and match supplier’s wants with the Buyer’s preferences with each appointment scheduled to last 30 minutes.

John Slaughter, Director of External Affairs at the HBF said: “In the current challenging economic times and with regulatory standards growing more demanding, the HBF Buyers Forum will enable our members to get the most out of their time at Timber Expo. Our aim is to help them add value for their businesses through this programme.”

Buyers participating in the Forum will be expected to meet with six exhibitors on each day that they agree to participate. These meetings will be scheduled and booked in advance and will be operated around a strict timetable. Sufficient time will be built in throughout the day for Buyers to visit the main exhibition and attend the Timber Talks seminar programme.

All participants in the Forums must have a strong desire to engage at the highest level possible with decision makers and individuals with direct influence. Charlie Law from BAM Construct found the 2011 Forum indispensible, saying: “The Timber Buyers event was a worthwhile exercise as it put us in touch with a number of suppliers that we may not otherwise have made contact with. The meeting facilities were good and were well organised.”

The Forums team will organise a bespoke programme of handpicked supplier meetings, relevant seminars and networking events to help fulfil participants immediate to long term project needs. With time a critical element, participants can be more efficient in what they do with their valuable time across the two days and maximise the potential for creating and exploiting the best of business from Timber Expo.
