Husk Architectural worked with the residents of Langtry Court in South East London to create a unique perforated panel featuring ‘Tobor the Great’, the titular character of last film to be shown at former Langtry Court cinema, The Ritz.

The concept and design of the 2.4m x 1.4m panel was the work of Sam and David at Selencky Parsons architects, also based at Langtry Court.

Sam said: "We wanted to come up with something a bit more interesting than just going with a blank paneI, something that could add something to that little corner of Brockley. We thought about using some kind of perforated panel instead, which could be more interesting and maybe even tell a bit of a story."

The aluminium perforation technology is popular among architects looking to create truly unique designs. Perforations can be made on single sheets of aluminium as in this case or used to cover a huge area on a building’s façade. They can incorporate logos, images or patterned designed.

The gate at Langtry Court was finished in a polyester powder coating to RAL 8019, a grey brown colour. Made in lightweight, durable and fully recyclable aluminium, the gate will be low maintenance and around for future generations to enjoy a glimpse into the area’s past.
