In response to the growing demand for tube laser processing the Kloeckner tube laser-processing centre in Dudley has recently been furnished with six state of the art BLM Adige tube lasers after a £7.7m investment in the technology over four years, a hefty investment that saw the company’s tube laser processing value added services revenue almost double in the past year. The six fully CNC automated tube lasers include two LT 722D and four LT8 machines.
Over the past few years Kloeckner Metals UK have invested heavily in technology that will ensure their place as a key player in many evolving industries, in particular the automotive sector that has seen a recent boom in the UK.
The main difference between standard laser cutting and the capabilities of a 3D laser is the precision of the cut and the ability to cut at a 45° angle (image one). This means cleaner cuts and an altogether more refined assembly process.
Tube laser processing machines are designed to cut various types of holes or profiles into range of tubular and open sections in a fully programmed automatic cycle, eliminating conventional cutting methods. Kloeckner are dedicated to moving the metals industry forward and believe that new technology allows not only for a renewed interest in the sector but will also facilitate the support and encouragement of the current acceleration of the automotive sector in the UK.
